Just the last half hour with a bit of interference from a thunderstorm and also some fading.
Roland
Perfect results last night.
Also quite good in the first 1.5 hours this morning, then signal got weaker.
Simone
Very good last night.
Roland
Good results last night using the Sony/ ferrite antenna, a few minor dropouts in the first hour this morning using DWT/LA380.
Simone
Not a good result. Although the local thunderstorm had passed away, there was still a lot of interference from other distant ones.
Roland
There were again problems with distant thunderstorms last night.
Roland
A few minor dropouts, thunderstorms at the beginning

Application hang! :(
Zipped MP3 attached.
Still the same audio problem today :(
but at least we can read the text messages ;)
Anyway I recorded a logfile last night, good results again.
Simone
AFS is also working but audio is just broken and from what I have experienced in the past, I'm afraid that it will remain so over the whole weekend.
Roland
Nothing changed concerning the audio problem this morning, good conditions last night except a 10min period around 20:00, this morning a weak signal and some dropouts using the DWT/ LA380.
Simone
Edit: Still the same this evening (Sat July 1st, 17:50 UTC)
Good results after sunset but again only noise to listen to :(
Simone
Audio was back and reception was excellent.

20.04kbps was not good for the road, robustness missing.
After switching to 21.60kbps between Leer and Oldenburg audio was better and signal more robust although fieldstrength and snr went down on my way to the east then.
Not good with fading and interference but also a large number of noise pulses from distant thunderstorms.

A few dB more fieldstrength would solve all problems.
Dropouts at known noisy locations.
Over here, the impulse response on this signal didn't look good tonight and it resulted in bad reception despite a sufficiently large SNR.
Roland
Perfect results after sunset.
Simone
Perfect from 1900.
Simone
Very good reception today.
Roland
On-channel interference and distant thunderstorms caused short dropouts.
Roland
Problems during thunderstorms last night, better conditions and good results from 2015 using the DWT/LA380.
Also good results during the first 50min this morning, then signal got weaker.

Strong on-channel interference and a sometimes weak signal combined yielded a not so perfect result.

Mobile reception result was good considering that there were local thunderstorms and electrostatic rain all the way.
I got only the last 15 minutes but they were not really good.

Just to let you know that we plan to carry the last night of the Proms on DRM this year. Hopefully in Stereo on MF.
Stereo would be really nice! I've never heard a programme in stereo from the BBC.
When will it be broadcast?
Will the broadcast also be repeated on shortwave at a later time? I'm asking because HF works more reliably here than MF (except for Kvitsoy at the moment).
Roland
The last night of the Proms on DRM/ MF in stereo is a great idea, currently conditions are pretty good here, both at night and in the morning :)
Pretty good for my location with a strong and steady signal.

Very strong signal, only a little on channel interference with the wire antenna:
Hi everyone. Just a bit more on the last night of the proms.
The live broadcast, will of course only be on MF. The programme will run from 18:30 UT until 22:00 UT, the same as the AM broadcasts. More on these here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/programmes/music_performance.shtml
The MF broadcast will be in stereo, using the almost the full capacity of Mode A with 10 kHz bandwidth.
A 1 hour Recorded Highlights programme will be broadcast at 08:06 UT on Sunday Morning (10th Sept) on both MF and HF. This will be in normal quality.
I'm still struggling getting Kvitsoy back onto the MDI stream so its possible the HF broadcast will only be from Rampisham, but we will do our best to get it on the Kvitsoy frequency as well.
regards
Julian
Rather good reception for my location. Hopefully, reception will be equally good tomorrow for the last night of the Proms.
Roland
Unfortunately even if I tried to squeeze everything out of my humble equipment there were some longer periods, when I couldn't get a sufficient SNR for continuous listening to the Last Night of the Proms.
So I won't display my desastrous log here. (Please retry on 7320 kHz next year ;) )
On the other hand - WOW! Good idea to start broadcasting at this high bitrate and in P-stereo just tonight.
BTw signal processing and encoding apparently takes a lot of time. When watching the event simultaneously on TV there was a delay of near to 9 seconds!
The Last Night of the Proms
It was great to hear the last night of the proms in stereo. Apart from a few moments of fading when co-channel interference was too strong and also apart from some interference of my own making, reception was quite good.
There was also a very short interruption at the beginning shortly after the bitrate had been changed and after the receiver here had locked onto the new stream.
I have also recorded the whole programme as an MP3 file.
It is a pity that despite "the wonders of satellite technology" which the conductor spoke of, the BBC lost the signal from the Royal Albert Hall for a while during the course of the concert. Didn't that also happen last year?
Audio quality was quite good even on headphones, however there was a little unpleasant hiss in voices, something that could certainly still be improved. I also noticed that the compressor struggled during moments when the russian baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky singing certain parts increased the loudness of his voice, it didn't come out louder, because volume already was at the highest level, so the compressor had to reduce gain and the result sounded a bit unnatural.
There were also occasional crackles on the audio which sounded as being of an electrical nature.
But anyway: A great programme and I enjoyed it very much!
Thanks!
Roland
Whew,
not a bad result for those in the listening area.
Did the Radio 3 text messages come over OK?
Recorded highlights at 08:00 UT this morning, on MF and both HF frequencies. Kvitsoy is now getting its feed over the internet.
Thanks for the compliments.
Julian
not a bad result for those in the listening area.
Well, I don't consider myself as being in the target area, perhaps in the listening area but certainly not in the target area so reception was rather good for me anyway.
Did the Radio 3 text messages come over OK?
No, they didn't, the text messages were those of the normal world service, ie about The Interview and other stuff but not about the Last Night of the Proms.
It was also strange to notice that after 22:00 UTC, just before the transmitter went off the air, another promenade concert featuring the Philharmonia orchestra was being announced, instead of the usual news broadcast that should have started then.
Roland
Hi Roland
No, they didn't, the text messages were those of the normal world service, ie about The Interview and other stuff but not about the Last Night of the Proms.
Darn, I wonder what happened. The configuration was definately set to take the Radio 3 text messages.
This morning's highlights definately went out with custom text messages. On both MF and HF.
It was also strange to notice that after 22:00 UTC, just before the transmitter went off the air, another promenade concert featuring the Philharmonia orchestra was being announced, instead of the usual news broadcast that should have started then.
If you look at the programme guide, there have been Proms programmes in the evening on the main English for Europe network. This goes out on 648 AM from Orfordness, and on DAB/Sky/Cable/DVB-T in the UK and on Hotbird 2.
Thanks for the feedback.
Julian

Today receiving with the Sat-Schneider DRT1 and decoding the 12kHz IF with the WinRadio software.
30dB SNR with the G303i for the first time..... :D

My results from the past two days, conditions were not so bad but with the current configuration I would not expect better results, hope it is only a test, the old configuration had worked perfectly and audio quality was OK.

Dropouts under/close to high voltage lines
Again not as good as it used to be, many dropouts from 1910- 2020, quite good later until the end.

Some dropouts last night from 2100 until the end.

Still donīt know the reason why since a few weeks results are not as good as they used to be, pretty bad last night and this morning.

Hi,
26 kbps resulted in a good audio.
Rather weird result today, with big parts with excellent reception. Then some parts where the signal is completely lost.
Time: 15:59 - 16:45 UTC.
